2017 Topic: Digital disruption and connectivity in supply chain management

In the field of Supply Chain Management and logistics, many different issues are interconnected and often indistinguishable. Therefore, we have decided that next year’s conference will focus not on one, but two issues. For one, the effect of digital disruption on the daily business life. Technological advancements do not only simplify processes and enable logistics to become more efficient, e.g. route planning, but also facilitate the creation of new business models. In today’s ever-growing world, businesses and governments are increasingly often faced with the challenges to connect international transport networks and to ensure that goods are efficiently transferred on a global scale. Digital connectivity with respect to the “Internet of Things” has become crucial for today’s businesses to secure long-term competitiveness. Furthermore, the issue of “Multimodal Transportation” is shaping the future of an international logistics culture.
