Harry Hohmeister

Member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa

Harry Hohmeister has spent the bulk of his professional career with the Lufthansa Group, which he initially joined in 1985. Over the following 14-plus years he held a number of management positions, beginning with responsibility for European fleet and schedule planning and development and later helping to reorganize the company’s distribution and marketing division as part of a broader corporate restructuring. He further went on to serve as Vice President Network Planning. He subsequently joined Thomas Cook Airlines, where he had held various executive management functions in Germany, Belgium and the UK over the previous five years. Mr. Hohmeister then joined the Management Board of Swiss International Air Lines as Head of Network & Alliance Management in 2005. He later also assumed overall charge of the company’s global distribution activities. In 2009 he was appointed CEO of Swiss International Air Lines, which he remained until December 2015. 

In addition to his position at Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Harry Hohmeister is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Edelweiss Air and Chairman of the Austrian Airlines Supervisory Board and of Lufthansa Cargo AG. He has also been a Member of the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the air transport industry’s umbrella organization, since 2009, and has headed its Audit Committee since 2011. He was further appointed Chairman & President of the Board of the SwissAmerican Chamber of Commerce. Since December 2012 he is member of the Board of Directors of SN Airholding SA/NV and since April 2014 member of the Board of Directors of Sun Express.

Frank Sportolari

President UPS Germany

Frank Sportolari, a native of Chicago, holds a BA degree in economics from the University of Illinois. Before joining UPS in 1986, he worked 6 years as a logistics and IT manager for the US Department of Defense in Germany.

Frank joined UPS in Munich, Germany in 1986 and held various positions of increasing responsibility within the Finance and Accounting function, including working as a Controller in Munich, Cologne and Neuss for UPS in Germany before moving to Madrid in 1996 where he was the Controller for UPS Spain & Portugal. This was followed by Controller assignments at UPS Italy and in the UPS European Coordination Center in Brussels, where Frank coordinated the activities of the UPS Controllers across the Europe Region. 

Frank has had extensive experience in Italy where he held the position of controller from 1998 to 1999 and of managing director from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2007, he took on the role of Vice President of European Strategy, based in Brussels, Belgium where he was responsible for developing strategies for the EMEA markets. 

In 2007, Frank returned to Italy as managing director, a position which he held until September 2011. During this time Frank served as a board member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy. 

In September of 2011, Frank was appointed to his current position of President of UPS Germany. He is a member of the board of directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany.

Frank lives in Düsseldorf with his wife and 4 children. He holds American and Italian citizenship and speaks English, Italian, Spanish, German and Swedish.
